If you have a programmable cell phone then you can begin tracking people from your phone.  You need the kind of phone that allows you to download and install apps on it.  If you have this type of phone, you can use your cell phone as a tracking device.  How cool is that?  Believe it or not, the app to use you phone as a cell phone locator is FREE.  About a year ago, Google unveiled a new service called Google Latitude.  Google latitude makes it possible for you to use your smart phone as a tracking device.

Imagine being able to look at the screen of your phone and instantly know where your wife, children, friends, or employees are at any time of the day or night.  This may seem like science fiction but  it’s 100% true.  The best part is that it’s free to download the Latitude app and use this free cell phone tracker app on your cell phone.

All you have to do is go to google.com/latitude on the mobile browser of your cell phone.  You need to subscribe to a data service plan to use the app and depending on your cell phone service provider, they may charge you for the data transfer.  You should check into that before getting carried away and running up a huge cell phone bill.

After you have the Latitude app installed on your phone, you need to go to Google’s website and sign up for a free Gmail account.  It only takes a couple of minutes to do this.  Next you start the app on your phone and send out some friend requests.  Anyone that you want to track must also have a Gmail account and Google Latitude installed on their phone.

Once someone accepts your friend request, you’ll be able to look on the Google Map on your cell phone and see their exact location.  They will also be able to see your location.  You have full control over who tracks you and how closely they can track you through the privacy settings section of the Latitude app.
