A computer drawing tablet is a great peripheral device for your computer and can be used for drawing as well as other digital uses such as photo retouching. People who love to draw or sketch, people who edit photos and other students or professionals of the digital art world love to rely on the computer drawing tablet. Depending on the brand, such as Wacom or Adesso, the pen is totally wireless with the dual mouse controls built into it.

You will need Windows 2000 on up or Mac OS X, 32 MB of RAM, a CD ROM driver and USB port for this. Get it at 888ergodir.com. The CyberTablet 12000 from Adesso has a 12″ x 9″ work space, scroll mouse and pen that are both wireless and works with Windows Me, 98SE, 2000, XP or Vista and Mac OS X on up. Cost for this model is $169. It also takes 32 MB RAM and CD ROM driver with available USB port. If you want to use Linux you can get the Intuos 3, but use will be limited. It tends to work only with one user per PC, with more users it will mess up.

Other Intuos products such as the Intuou4 work better, but are expensive. Aiptek HyperPen USB device drivers for Linux Kernel are useful for interested parties. Sourceforge.net is in the development process of creating drivers for use with Linux Kernel. This driver should be compatible with the HyperPens 4000U (about$80) through their 12000U as well as Trust Wireless Tablet 400, LIFETEC LT9750, and Medion MD9750. Calcomp creates the Drawing Boards I and II and these will work with CalComp under Linux, plus Digital Edge creates a Pen tablet that can be run with Linux and the Ximput driver available at xf86digitaledge.sourceforge.net. Newegg.com sells the Genius G-Pen F610 for $104.99 and comes with a 6″ x 10″ tablet.

Genius produces many more digital drawing tablets for a reasonable price each with different characteristics that will please a good assortment of graphic designers and artists. G-Pens are compatible with Windows and Mac OS operating systems. Visit computer drawing tablet and portable printer for laptops for more information.
