The technology driving touch screen laptop computers have really benefited from the advancement in both the resolution department as well as touch recognition sensitivity. Older touch screen systems such as the resistive and capacitive systems limited the brightness of the display because of the conductive sheets required to make the screen recognize touch commands.

But with newer technology products like the HP touch screen laptops advertise themselves as computer with excess capacity to fully support multimedia. In fact, many of HP’s computers are centered around media and the notion that their consumers are looking at their computers as a means of interacting and enjoying resource intensive multimedia machines. The improved screen resolution and brightness has given this particular brand that advantage.

Not only has the screen’s display been improved to provide brighter, richer colors at high definition resolution but the sensitivity to render touch commands has also taken off. Some screens are now getting really good at differentiating between intentional touch commands and unintentional accidental touches on the screen. While these kinks are still being perfected they are definitely getting there. Greater touch sensitivity means better response to commands and that means much less frustration to the user.

Another showing of the power of advancement in touch technology is the multi-touch function that almost every modern screen offers these days. This is the ability to use more than one point of contact to further manipulate the objects on the screen almost the same as a person would in real life. Multi-touch allows the users to zoom, pan and flip through media as it recognizes the difference between tapping, dragging and pulling. It also will recognize different commands with different tools. Touches with the finger, used to manipulate objects, are different from a stylus which would be used to draw and write. User experience is greatly enhanced as touch screens have become better at reading user input.
