USB Hub

Many own a computer to which they add several peripherals. If you are like many you add a digital camera, scanner, fax, camcorder, or other peripherals to your computer. So, what are your options if you run out of USB ports? Well, one viable option is to add more USB ports to the computer. That’s right, increase the number of ports on your computer. Many computers only have two or three USB ports. This is simply not enough for the average computer user.

Purchasing a USB Hub (Universal Serial Bus) is one way to easily add two, three, four, five, six, or more ports to your computer. USB Hubs are easy to install. All that is needed is one available USB port. Simply plug the USB Hub into the available USB port. And you instantly have extra USB connections to install all those extra peripherals.

There are two types of USB Hubs that you might want to consider purchasing. First there is the self powered Hubs. This hub requires electricity to operate. So, it is packaged with an AC adapter that has to be plugged into the wall. Bus powered Hubs plug directly into the computer and are powered by the computer’s bus. It is mostly a personal choice which Hub is selected. Some might prefer the convenience of the USB powered Hub, while others prefer the USB Hub with the wall adapter.

One good thing about adding a hub is that you do not need any software to install the hub. Simply plug in the device and go. Later model computers instantly recognize the device and you are up and running. And to remove the device all you have to do is simply unplug the hub. Hubs are a great way to increase your computing power and easily add more USB ports. Hubs are available at most local computer supply stores and many retailers.
